FFF and Forever Family Day

Happy Forever Family Day!Look what arrived in the mail just in time!

It is our 3rd Forever Family Day Celebration. This evening 3 years ago we flew to Guatemala in anticipation of becoming parents. We were beyond nervous and excited and full of the most anticipation I could of ever imagined. I could not have imagined how this little being would fulfill my life. She has made my loving relationship with my husband all the more fulfilling we are now truly a family! She has added laughter and squeals and some tantrums too and it is just perfect. I am so incredibly greatful to be her mommy. We are driving to San Francisco tomorrow and going to the Academy of Sciences which is an aquarium, planetarium, and indoor rainforest all in one. Expect picture overload later as it is my first chance to use my fancy new camera.

First Birthmother conversation

Lily and I took a walk yesterday to feed some goats. We were feeding the goats some flowers when a very plump very pregnant goat came walking by. I thought this would be a good time for me to bring up Lily's birthmother as I haven't mentioned her before. I think of her often I just haven't had a perfect moment yet. So this goat gave me the perfect opener. Here is how our conversation went.
Mommy: "That goat has babies in her tummy."
Lily: Bends down to see the baby goats. "Mommy I want to see them right now"
Mommy: "We will have to wait for them to be ready to come out. There not ready yet. Mommies carry babies in their tummies. You birthmommy carried you in her tummy in Guatemala.
Lily: Lifts up her shirt. "I don't have babies in my tummy!"
Mommy: "No honey you were in your birthmothers tummy in Guatemala."
Lily: Lifts up shirt again. "I want a baby in my tummy."
Mommy: Quickly changes subject before it careens way to off the course.

It was a good first attempt.

Lily's Story

This video is Lily reading what we call Lily's story. It is the book Over the Moon by Karen Katz. I realize you will only understand her if you know the story and it is 5 minutes or so long so really it is just for me. It is my favorite thing to hear her do when she reads herself her favorite books. She has about 6 or 7 that she knows by heart. The video starts off with her reading the end of another book. Over the moon is my favorite. You can barely hear her because she is a very soft spoken child, but I just had to capture this moment in time. oh and please excuse Peter he didn't know he was in the shot and was sneaking jelly beans out of his pocket.

I ordered this for Lilyana's upcoming Forever and ever day! I am so excited and just for all you smarty pants out there yes it will say her name. I ordered it from etsy. Her store is now in my blogroll. La Chapina is what it is called. I have been coveting it for a very long time Lily's 3rd Forever Family Day is the perfect reason to get it. Can't wait to show off the real deal.

Easter part II

After a bit of a sugar crash and a much needed nap we started the evening with a little egg hunt. Cousin Ava and Uncle Troy came to help show us how it is done.
Next I got out the bubbles and then the real fun began.

Bubbles are truly a work out.

We had a wonderful holiday!

Happy Easter Part I

Yesterday we dyed easter eggs. Lily was quite bossy! She had fun mommy wasn't aloud to get in on the action. This morning we woke up to this on our little table. I didn't even hear him sneak in.

Lily told me her candy was very very yummy:)

We took our anual trip to the zoo easter morning.

Lily lost all interest in the animals when the train chugged by. We had to ride it right now!

Hmmm which one is daddy. JK daddy.

Never before has Lily been willing to participate in such juvenile fun:)

Then to top off the best morning ever in my girls book we also got to ride ponies. Yes two of them. All Lily's favorite things animals, trains, and horses. Oh my.

If there was any doubt I have one happy girl on my hands!

See ya later. Love these walking away shots.
And the day is only half over. We still have an egg hunt and dinner with family to go. More to come later I am sure.

Easter Pictures

Please excuse their quality they are pictures of pictures, but you get the idea. Lily was not happy at all with the idea of a stranger taking her picture. Luckily we caught a few smiles amid the uncooperation.
She sure was happy with the brown ice cream she had afterwards. Lily is very particular about how one should eat ice cream the topping must not be mixed in you must place it on top one at a time.

Spring Break Beach trip

Our little family dog and all took an adventure to Fort Bragg Ca. The weather was beautiful and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. I dare say that Stuey had the best time of all. We don't take him many places he is kind of uncivilized. He was great company though and only once did he have small mans (dogs) complex and try to disagree with a much much larger dog.

The first day we got there we walked across the street and down the stairs to the beach where my usually timid child had not a fear in sight. She ran in the water and dug in the sand like a pro.

Watch the waves daddy.

Heading back up the hill.

The next day we drove to Mendocino and took hundreds of scenery pictures.

If you dont ask her to have her picture taken she unknowingly cooperates. Mommy's new trick.

This picture says it all.

Found some tide pools.
Apparently this here whale struck my fancy.
Glass beach.

Dump + ocean + time = beauty

Taking a little beach home with her. Shhhh no one told her she shouldn't.

I think we have created a beach beauty. She was a tad insulted by the coldness of the water. Me too princess me too.
