Dear Lily,
You are my girl. I love you with all my heart, to the moon, around each and every star, and back again. I am so sorry that I have to write you this letter. I'm so sorry that your little life has been upended. I want you to know that I tried. I want you to know that I gave our family every last ounce of effort. Sometimes things don't work out. I never ever wanted you to have a disjointed, separated family. I always wanted to be the best we could for you. So I am very sorry that adult problems got in the way. I'm very sorry those adult problems could not be fixed. I want you to know that these problems had nothing to do with you. You are the best thing to ever happen to me. You are my sun and my stars. Never could you have done anything to contribute to what happened with your dad and I. Here is what I do know. We will be fine. I will always be here for you. Our lives will be different, but they will be good. We can still make happy memories. We've already started baby girl. We can move forward. Families are created in all different ways. Ours is a little different now, but it is filled with love. We are surrounded by people who love us. You are surrounded by people who love you.
I'm going to keep our family scrapbook. Just because our family looks different it doesn't negate the love that was in this space before. Baby you are LOVED!! Your first 8 years of life have been filled with love and laughter. All that love is important, every mile stone made was celebrated by lots of people who love you tremendously. You, my girl, will continue to be celebrated, cheered on, and supported. You will always be my girl.
Love you
with all my heart,
Mommy

I"m so sorry that your marriage didn't work out but I know exactly what you mean when it comes to your daughter. There is no stronger love, and you both will move on in a bit of a different life but you will be together. Take care.
