FFF #3 and some news!

So I have been keeping a secret for the last few months and I got the okay to share my news. I am pregnant 12 weeks to be exact. I am dumbfounded and amazed that there is actually a little being growing inside of me. Especially because I am not supposed to do this. No fertility drugs no special visits to the doctor just a miracle. I must admit that my reaction to the news that Lilyana would be a big sis was strange. I felt as if I was betraying her or that I was somehow making her more of an adopted child. I feel like now we kind of hide behind a cloak of anonoumity. No one asks us any questions anymore. I feel like brining a biological child into our family is just going to make things harder for Lily. As I have time to get used to this idea I have come to the realization that a sibling is merely a blessing for my girl and that she is going to have to deal with the issues of her adoption whether we have a biological child or not. It was just my heart wanting to protect her. Wanting her not to have to realize that with all of the joy of adoption that there will also be pain and lastly that I have my own issues to deal with.

That being said I had an ultrasound on thursday and the baby looked like a baby no longer a little shrimp. It was the cutest little thing and it even sucked it's thumb! I walked out of the office balling. The first time I let myself feel a connection to this little being. The doctor graduated me to a normal pregnant girl status. Which is a double edge sword because that means I will also get ultrasounds like a normal pregnant person. No more peeking inside my womb every other week.

I am sure your feelings are normal....I have had them from the other side....worried that our only bio would feel bad w/ TWO adopted siblings.....

But, ultimately, you are right....every child is a blessing for all in the family!!!

CONGRATS! (& she is adorable!!)

Congratulations!! What wonderful news...a month after we came home I thought I was pregnant (false alarm) and I was surprised to feel very similar to what you said. I think it is normal we just don't want anything in the world to make our children feel bad.

I think it is kind of silly in my case because my oldest brother is adopted an there was absolutely no difference between us!!

Congratulations again and I love your pictures. She looks like she is really enjoying herself.

OMW! Congratulations! There is nothing better than brothers and sisters - I totally understand your feelings, but somehow I think that you are the kind of mommy that has enough love for more than one, no metter how they enter into you life!

OMG! OMG!! OMG!!! I am soooo excited for you!! I so wanted Lily to be a big sister like Maya, and Eric even asks occasionally if you guys have talked about adopting another one yet. This is perfect!! And I'll just go ahead and say now I hope it's another GIRL!

You know, it's our jobs as parents to worry about something or other. Your children are your children, and it makes absolutely no difference how they join your family. As long as you don't see a difference, they won't see a difference. And I know you will be PERFECT parents to this child, too, and Lily will be an absolutely wonderful big sister!! I can't wait!!

hi! I just wanted you to know that I stood in your shoes this time last year. We tried for 6 years until we were blessed with our daughter who was born in Guatemala. We were home 1 month and 2 days and we found out that we were pregnant. It took our 5 year plan to a 5 week plan!! :-) I had the exact same feelings thinking that I had let my first daughter down. Our second daughter was born 9 months after we brought home our first. It has been a whirlwind to adjust to, but we are getting there!

I just wanted you to know that what you are feeling is I think pretty normal!

PS My Oldest DD is also a Lilliana!

Good Luck and gets LOTS of sleep now!
