Zoo

We went to the zoo

with Auntie Monica.

It was a beautiful day!
The zoo has two new baby orangatangs.

They are super playful.

This would have been an adorable picture

without the stop sign.

Before we got back to the car she indulged me
in some picture goodness.

Lily has been sportin' these adorable buns lately.

Funny Lily story:

Lily always makes sure before going to sleep

that if she has a problem or a dream

she can come and get us with her flashlight.

(She's been having some scary dreams)

Apparently her parents need to be quite specific about what a problem is.

The other night she came in our room

at around 5 am

to let us know her hair was silly.

She was right it certainly did look silly.

To her credit it was a problem.

So.....

now a problem consists of being sick

hurt

or having a bloody nose.

It's all in the specifics when your 5

almost 6.

Our first day of Kinder was an overall success.

Lily woke up ready to go.

We got in the car so excited.

Then we arrived to pick up Nonnie,

and suddenly there appeared a frown.
When we arrived at school

I opened her door and she said

"Mommy I don't think I want to go to Kindergarten"

I had great dreams of taking pictures

but they became unimportant as her apprehension grew.

We went inside and found our chair.

I thought since she was seated and not crying I should escape quickly.

So I kissed her and said goodbye and suddenly the tears started

along with the kind of "mommy" that is hard to leave.

There were lots of other adults in the room so

I came back and colored with her a little.

As the adults dwindled I said its time for me to go give me a kiss.

She gave me a kiss and off I went.

I snuck one last glimpse of my baby and there was not a tear in sight.

Here is one of the only photos taken on that first day.

I was able to swallow the frog in my throat until I was alone in my car.

Then I aloud myself a few tears and rushed off to work.

My mom picked her up and she ran into her arms smiling.

Yea for Kindergarten!

Things learned on the first day:

Your name tag should stay on all day.

In Kindergarten shoes stay on your feet.

Never ever run away.

This is Lily's newest hair creation.

She wants to look like baby Lily.

When she was a baby she wore her hair in pony tails like this.

Her hair is getting super long.

She doesn't want me to cut it but

wants me to figure out how I can make her long hair

look like little bitty ponies.

As a side note when her hair is this way she also likes to pretend she's a baby.

Last minute camping trip!

Somehow my last weekend of summer vacation has arrived.

I find myself sitting on the couch on the eve of my first day of work

largely in denial.

How did it fly by so fast.

We decided to say our goodbyes to vacation

with a bang. We also decided to take trouble

and his little brother

slightly less trouble.
They were actually not really much trouble at all.

Turns out they like to camp.

They also let their big sister join them.
She also enjoys camping.

I'd like you to take a good look at that pink shirt.

Keep that image in your head for later.

Lily's favorite part of this trip was

taking a romp through the forest.

See doesn't he look so sweet.

Really he is sweet,

but he has earned his nickname.

He is trouble.
He is hatching an escape plan in the tiny head of his.

His escape plan did not come to fruition this time....

I think it is a right of passage to ride in the back of a pick up.
Only while camping though

I promise.
My goodness I love the gap in that smile.

Do you still have that nice clean pink shirt in your head?

It is the sign of a good camping trip to come out looking like this.

I must tell you not to laugh

she wouldn't let me take her picture with her shirt on

cause she was afraid you all might laugh at her.

Shame on you for laughing :0)

It was a perfect camping trip.

On a side note though

the mushy gushy on the bottom of the lake.

I DO NOT like it at ALL!
