School pictures

Lily's school had a photographer come and take pictures of the kids on the school grounds.

She captured some wonderful shots of my big girl.

Yesterday I went to my first ever parent teacher conference for her pre K class.

I remember that the adoption agency told us that adopted children with delays usually catch up really quickly.

I remember thinking that it seemed as if catching up was taking forever!!!

I do think my girl has caught up to her peers.

She knows almost all of her capital letters and some of her lower case letters.

She can write her name and she knows all her shapes and colors.

Although she did say that a rectangle was a big square!

She has some trouble with number recognition but can count to 20.

My favorite part of the conference was the one thing Lily needed to work on:

she growls at her friends and sometimes startles them.

Not that I think scaring her friends is funny but Lily spends a lot of her time here at home as her favorite dragon Toothless from the movie How to Train your dragon.

When I shared the information with her Daddy his response was

"Well, you can't stop a dragon"

Today we went for our well check up.

I asked the Dr. for a prediction of her height.

Just for curiosity sake.

She said Lily could be 5''2" or 5'3" which was my prediction too.

She is also all set to start kindergarten next year.

First day of School

My baby girl headed off to her first day of pre~K today.

She woke up with a smile on her face

got out of the car with her lunchbox in hand gave me a hug and kiss

took her teachers hand and didn't look back.

Her school has a shutterfly sight and they took pictures.
I feel so spoiled to get to see her throughout the day.
I love the smile on her little face among all her new friends.


She even got to have a riding lesson on her first day.
Is there any wonder that she went in with a smile on her face.

Lily's first day of school

Lilyana started preschool today. I prepared her the best I could. I told her that mommy was going to go have fun at work and Lily was going to have fun at school. She repeated these things back to me and would say okay. And then she would tell me mommy stay. So we would have the same conversation again. This very circular conversation happened many times over the last few days. Today on the way to school she said Lily ride school bus. I told her I was taking her to school. We got to school and I stayed with her for about 20 minutes. She wavered between unhappy to be there and explorer. Then the time came. I took a deep breath gave her tags (her blanket) and told her goodbye. She grabbed my leg and screamed mommy mommy. Miss Wendy carefully peeled her from me and I fled the scene. I got in the car tears in my eyes and heard the last Mommy as I closed the door. I felt horrible but knew the scene would not last for long. When I came to pick her up from Nonnie's house today here is our conversation. Lily what did you do at school today. I crying. I stop crying. I eat lunch. Did you get to pet the kitty. She pointed her little finger at me and said very sternly no touch kitty. Learned her first school rule today. I am a proud mama
