Beautiful

On occasion I look into my daughters eyes and I see this woman. This woman who is forever intertwined into our family tree. Like a perfect vine weaving it's way up and caressing my girls face. If you have ever wondered where Lilyana gets her beauty from wonder no more. This is Lily's birth mother, for a long time I have wanted to place this picture in Lily's room, but have not been able to. The picture as all of you who also adopted from Guatemala know is a Polaroid and it is not the best of quality, but it is a treasure, one we are lucky to possess . This picture was taken after some shots and in the original Lily is not a happy camper. My friend Veronica gave me the best gift ever!!!! She worked some magic with photo shop and now my girl can have this picture forever in her room and carry her birth mommies face forever in her heart. Thank you, thank you Veronica!!!
My two favorite adoption poems:

Legacy of an Adopted Child
Once there were two women who never knew each other.
One you do not remember, the other you call mother.
Two different lives, shaped to make your one...
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.
The first gave you life and the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love, and the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name.
One gave you a seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.
One gave you up ... that's all she could do.
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me, through your fears, the age old question unanswered throughout the years...
Heredity or environment, which are you the product of?
Neither, my darling … neither.
Just two different kinds of love.
~ Author Unknown ~
The Answer
Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously
My own.
Never forget
For a single minute:
You didn't grow under my heart
But in it.

Great picture, Sarah. I must learn to photoshop! (I also wish I were brave like you. Not there quite yet.)
I have to tell you...Chase was standing here while I looked at your blog. He heard the first song "Here comes the sun" song and said "That's Bee Movie song." He heard your second song and said "That's Madagascar song." Is that sad or what? How many movies has he seen?! :)

Love your picture you posted, I would also like to put the one of Maya and her birthmom in her room but the picture is so sad to look as far as how her birthmom looks. I do have a picture of her whole fosterfamily that we got to know very well while we were visiting and I lived there. Also thankyou for everyone who made that wonderful scrapbook for avianna thats just beautiful.
