Our little graduate!

On Thursday evening Lily graduated preschool.

What a perfect event.

Her teachers had something to say about each of them.

Miss Amber said when Lily first got to Smart Start

she wanted to do things her way

it took a few weeks to whip her into shape

then she bacame a leader,

a listener, and a model student.

So proud of my girl.

I wish I had a better picture of this.

The children got to walk down the center with a friend.

Of course Lily and Paxton went down hand in hand.

Cuteset thing I've ever seen!

Lily dragged Paxton down the center quick as she could!

And here they are my two favorite graduates.

I do not know how I am going to send her to Kinder in a few short months.

The good news is I got her in the school I want her in!!!

But why oh why must they grow up so fast.

Fathers day just a little early

Donuts with Dad.

Lily's school had a special breakfast to celebrate fathers day a wee bit early.

Luckily it happened to be on Daddy's day off so he was able to go.

Daddy got to meet the infamous Paxton.

Below is a super sweet video of Lily and her friends singing Dad-O

to the tune of the banana boat song

AKA Day-O

confessional

My friend Jen did a post about all of her idiosyncrasies.

It was so much fun to read.

Nice to know we all have quirks :0)

In college I met the sister I always wanted.

She was taller than me :0)

I really like that about her because I always felt so tall and awkward.

Anyways, I'm off topic,

We both have brown hair and are tall.

People used to ask when we were younger

if we were sisters.

One time we went out to dinner

and the girl who was in the middle of carding us

looking at our different last names

and different birth dates

asked if we were twins.

Monica always got hit on way more than me in college

I always felt a bit like chopped liver,

even though, most of the men were no one you'd want to give your number t0

one night such an occurrence was happening

I was sitting at the table drumming my fingers

wanting our unwanted company to leave.

Feeling dejected and a bit like the ugly duckling

I asked why she thought all the fine fellows only spoke to her.

She rolled her eyes and said, Did you see his gold teeth?

One more Monica story

We lived in an apartment together after college

the apartment had a foul smell one evening.

I could not stand it. So I got out my best smelling

bath and body spray

Monica came out and asked what I was doing

I told her and she said

Sarah that smell is gas

guess we had a small gas leak.

When I say things or do things

like the above gem

My husband says

Aw honey, your so pretty.

I know I've made some sort of blunder

I have zero sense of direction

I lived in the same town for at least 20 years

and could still get lost.

One time in college I went out for drinks

There was this place specialized in long island ice teas.

They tasted like jolly ranchers

I had 2

and could not find my way home.

Luckily I was being driven home and he helped me figure it out.

Before starting my blog I found religion, at least the western kind

an excuse to label others

it felt mean spirited.

While attending church

during high school

I told a very good friend that he was a sinner.

Its embarrassing

I've apologized profusely.

who am I to judge.

At this point I turned my back on religion

not on god, but church and such.

Then I started reading blogs

and people were doing these amazing things

driven by their faith.

It makes my heart happy that I was wrong.

Or at least looking in the wrong place.

Thank you to all these amazing woman

who walk the walk and talk the talk

you amaze and inspire me.

When I am relaxing I put my left hand up and

place it on my chin

a nice place to rest my weary head

I can't hold my husbands hand cause I would have to remove my hand from my face.

I have 2 dogs

both of them are here because I fought tooth and nail to get them here.

If left to me they would never be fed and poop would fill our yard

Thank you to that guy I married

He's a catch

I also fought tooth and nail to bring a little princess home

but I do remember to feed her :0)

almost always.

The other day my mom told me Lily was not feeling well

She seemed just fine to me.

The next morning I was standing in the kitchen

and all of a sudden said shit!!!

I know why Lily wasn't feeling well

I forgot to feed her breakfast.

Mom of the year award

I'm sure it's coming my way.

I've learned in the last few years that home

is where your family is

I don't live in a fancy house

or a fancy neighborhood

but I have 2 of the best people I know

I'd take them any day over fancy.

The day before our orientation for the adoption agency we used

I went to a nearby nail salon and got my eyebrows waxed.

The next day I woke up with a horrid eye infection.

One of my eyes was REALLY puffy itchy and scaly

I looked a bit like I'd been beat up.

Whats a girl to do I wasn't gonna miss that meeting.

I got curious looks and an eyebrow raised

what happened?

from the coordinator.

I'm sure eyebrow wax catastrophe wasn't what she guessed.

I am once again an avid reader thanks to a kindle app on my phone

I stopped reading the first years Lily was home

I love love my teeny tiny kindle.

I am blind as a bat.

It took me years to admit I couldn't see.

When I was first married Peter convinced me to go see the eye doctor.

The eye doctor is a nice man who has a thick accent.

He laughed at me for a good minute cause I thought I could see.

For at least a year or 2 after that when I would go to see him

he would giggle like a school girl and say

ha ha ha you the girl who thinks she can see ha ha ha.

Not at all embarrassing.

Just for your information I KNOW I make so many errors in this blog.

I swear I spellcheck and read and reread.

Then I'll go back through and there will still be so many errors.

You win some you loose some.

Mothers Day

This was my mothers day present.

It was a brilliant gift

made by my husband

at my request.
He brought my vision to perfection.

Have I ever mentioned how very timid my girl is

getting her to try new things sometimes is like moving a mountain

Look at that face......

Previous to this face there was a lot of tears

lots of talk about not wanting that swing in her tree
then more crying and ranting

it'd be very humorous if you weren't her mother I'm sure

as her mother I've learned through trial and error

when to push and when to hold back

so here is the little push

(literally)

Hmmm

a small smile...

another little nudge in the right direction

And there we go

she likes it !

She now offically has conquered the big girl swing!

She can get on it on her own

and better yet she's learned to pump her legs.

And was excited to go to school and show her friends her

new talent!!

Thank you daddy for the perfect mother's day gift!

Hello private

Hi there welcome to my very own private realm :0) I just want to say that my reason for going private is really for one purpose. I feel like I can not truly make this a family scrapbook because I am limited to who I can and can not post pictures of. There have been times I have posted pictures of Lily and her friends and felt perhaps it wasn't the best decision. I no longer want unneeded guilt. So now my philosophy is that the people I have invited to my private oasis are family and friends and this is now really my personal scrapbook. These are all people that I would have in my home and I would never second guess showing these friends a photo album that included pictures of our friends. If ever you see a picture of your child here that you do not want in my scrapbook please let me know right away or if you are still uncomfortable with me posting any pictures of your child please let me know now and I will be sure not to post them. You can contact me at sarahdelap@att.net. So with that being said let the guilt free blogging to begin.

Going Private ~ I think

I've been feeling a little restricted as far as what I can and can not post on my blog. I'm flirting with the idea of going private. My blog is really for me it is my families scrap book. I'm feeling increasingly uncomfortable sharing that with the world. This blog has been such a release during some difficult times. I felt so much comfort and solace coming here after the difficult loss of my pregnancy. So many people reached out to me with kind words. And a real and important friendship came from that. I'd be talking about you, my friend, Jen :0) I've met some wonderful people who have changed the way I think and given me some serious smiles. But I think as Lily's story develops it may not really be my place to share it with the world. So next Friday I think I'm following suit with many others and trying out my blog in the private realm. If you would like to follow you can shoot me an email at sarahdelap@att.net.

Mothers Day Tea

Yesterday I took a half a day off

to enjoy a mothers day tea with Lily

The above picture is of Lily in front of her school

she seems to be getting bigger every time I turn around

but in this picture she looks so tiny

I like getting my baby fix every once in a while

The tables were set up just right for tea

They sang us two songs

I teared up cause they are all just so dang cute

I'm gonna be embarrassing at graduation in a few weeks

Guess I'll need a box of tissues

then they read the card that they made

Lily was one of two children that read their card aloud

in front of an audience

it was a proud mama moment
she said she likes to go grocery shopping with me

which is funny

cause she is a pain in the arse when grocery shopping

when I tell her were going there is a lot of whining involved

she so does NOT like grocery shopping :0)

After the songs they gave us a present

A painted little plaster hand print

it is adorable

then we decorated a cupcake together

I think it may have been for me

but she ate it

the nerve :0)

Then Miss Amber took some pictures of the two of us

I love these pictures

My favorite part of the day was
that I got to meet Paxton
and see the two of them together
he comes up a lot in our house
I got some really good pictures
but
I think I got in trouble for posting pictures
of some children without asking
I thought I did ask but I asked only once
years ago
guess I should have asked again :0)
Anyways I didn't get to ask Paxton's mom
so you will just have to know that he makes her smile
light up
I'm so sad they won't see each other again
That is the down side to finding her a preschool so far away
I hope she finds a child in kinder who is just as special to her
I am sure she will

Forever Family Day #5

This child has been home 5 years,

...Yes 5

Where did the time go?

When she came home she couldn't sit up

she stared forever at her hands

turning them back and forth back and forth

I am pretty sure just to block me out:0)

and when she wasn't enthralled with her hands

she was sleeping and sleeping....

Now she is this forever changing little person

sometimes she drives me crazy

sometimes she is one very large whine

but even in those times I am so happy she is mine

My daughter

A girl that is the perfect fit

she completes my little family
I will never tire of the endless I love yous

The way she cuddles

the way she says the same thing before bed each night

the way her socks never EVER match her outfit

How there is only one way she'll wear her hair.

When I dreamed of my daughter

My dream never ever could have touched reality

For our anniversary we usually go out of town

but when asked what Lily wanted to do

she wanted to stay home

and have Nonnie and papa over for dinner.

The day was a bit too nice to stay home

so we went to the zoo

We love the zoo

baby tiger came too

It was the perfect family day

Then we came home and ate dinner

and then topped it off with not one but 2 desserts.

An Itty Bitty Cake

And our very first smores!

Complete with our Nonnie and Papa
